#1 Anonymous Proxy
List Verifier is a Windows program that can help you find and verify
proxies of all kinds. The programs main function is to download and
extract proxies from various websites and forums on the Internet.
These proxies are then verified and can be used to hide your real IP
address and help you become anonymous on the Internet.
What is a proxy?
[Top]
A proxy is a program running on a computer that listens for
incoming connections. If the proxy gets an incoming connection
request and decides to accept it, then the proxy can hide your real IP
address by
forwarding all information for you to the destination of your
choice. Here is an example to make it a little clearer. This is how
a proxy can look when you find it on a website, "192.8.0.1:8080".
This means that the proxy can be found on the IP address 192.8.0.1
and that it's running on port 8080. If you decided to use this proxy in for
example your webbrowser, all you traffic will first be routed to the
proxy, then the proxy will request the website that you want. This
means that the website will only see the IP address of the proxy,
and your IP address will only be visible to the proxy.

How do I find proxies?
[Top]
This is the easy part, once you have started the program and
clicked your way through some selfexplanatory windows, all that you
really need to is to click on "Start". If you use the default
configuration and click on "Start", then the program will first
check the environmental scripts (they are used to check the anonymity
level of HTTP proxies). Then it will download 10 different URL's
(websites) and extract all the proxies from them. After that part is
done it begins to verify all the proxies found to see which ones
that are alive and useful. It will stop by itself when it's done.
What is the difference between the different types of proxies?
[Top]
"HTTP" - These kinds of proxies are typically used for keeping
you anonymous while surfing the net. This is the most common kind
and represents 95% of all the proxies you will find.
"HTTPS" - These proxies support the "CONNECT" command which means
that they can connect to any host on any port. They support secure
encrypted connections. Not so common, about 4% of all proxies you
will find.
"SOCKS v4/5" - These proxies also supports connections to any host
on any port, this means that they can be used in for example your
email client like Outlook, to keep your emails anonymous. Very rare,
less than 1% of all proxies that you will find.
How do I know if a HTTP proxy I found is any good?
[Top]
If you have "Environment URL verification" enabled (it's enabled
by default), then each HTTP proxy that works will get an individual
score under the column "Anonymity" in the main window. If a proxy
has a rating of "0" or less then you shouldn't use it since it's likely
that it will spill your real IP address. If you are very concerned about
your anonymity then only use a proxy that scores at "50" or more.
If a proxy has a rating of "50" or more then it means that it will
not show your real IP address and can be trusted at keeping you
anonymous.
